The Truth About Those Pension Attack Ads

Friends & Fellow Texans,

For nearly a year, Texans for Fiscal Responsibility has been targeting lawmakers across Texas, accusing them of voting to increase their legislative pensions. These claims, more recently made through mailpieces, accompanied images associating me with Nancy Pelosi and stacks of money. Just like all the other attacks funded by my opponent's top donor, these claims are both misleading and false.

The focal point of these accusations is House Bill 438, authored by Republican State Representative Mike Schofield. Contrary to the claims made, HB 438 was aimed at providing cost-of-living adjustments for state district judges, not at increasing legislative pensions. Schofield himself clarified on the House floor that the bill had no impact on legislative pensions and solely focused on ensuring the purchasing power of judicial salaries remains consistent with inflation.

It's crucial to understand the context behind these attacks. Texans for Fiscal Responsibility has a history of engaging in political attacks against lawmakers like me who don't align with their agenda. Moreover, the organization's president, Andrew McVeigh, has ties to disgraced former State Representative Bryan Slaton, who was expelled from the Texas House due to misconduct.

The accusations thrown by Texans for Fiscal Responsibility are nothing more than political smears, aiming to discredit lawmakers without merit. As constituents, it's essential to see through these misleading tactics and focus on the facts. I have consistently stood for transparency and accountability in government despite these baseless attacks.

Let's not be swayed by misinformation. Instead, let's focus on supporting representatives who prioritize the interests of their constituents and uphold the values of integrity and honesty in public service. Here's a record of the things I've accomplished on Border Security alone.

Together, we can ensure our voices are heard and that Texas is served by truly effective Conservatives.

Sincerely,

Dr. Lynn Stucky Texas State Representative
